"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19 ESV). Making disciples is the work of every Christian and every church and every ministry. The Lord tarries until the last person is saved then He returns triumphant to claim His bride and celebrate at His wedding feast. Until that day the church is to pursue every man that they might be in Christ and work with every man until he becomes like Christ. In obedience to the Great Commission CBMC labors to make disciples. To determine our progress we have set a goal to have 500 disciple makers with 5 generations of spiritual reproduction in 5 years (2007). This is the end for which we labor over the next few years. We will accomplish this objective by providing tools, training and opportunity to Christian business and professional men willing to participate in this great work. The process begins by forming a list of men to pray for on a daily basis. Some of these men will probably not yet be committed to Jesus Christ as Savior. The need for these men is to clearly hear the gospel and see its effects by exposure to other Christian men. CBMC provides the Business Issues Symposium at First National Bank of America as a means to expose the uncommitted to the relevance of Biblical truth to current business concerns. In addition, our special luncheons at the MAC allow men to hear how a fellow business and professional man has been changed through a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. These are the best opportunities for seeing men come to salvation. Next, we provide training for equipping men to take another person through CBMCs personal discipleship program Operation Timothy. This tool makes it easy for men to address significant Biblical truths without having to be Bible scholars. The greatest risk we may ever take is the one we make when we invite another man to explore Scripture with us on a consistent basis. The best prospects for discipling come from those who receive Christ as Savior at our special luncheons. Another group of prospects reside in our churches where men have never had another man enter their lives for personal spiritual development. CBMC is looking for 50 men willing to disciple another man in 2003. A life of faith that has risk, reward, adventure and battle is one involved in Gods purpose of winning and discipling men. Meeting consistently with another man to grow in Christ elevates our game so that we begin to become the Christian men we know God has called us to be. It is a risk to our relationships to invite another man to go through Operation Timothy. The reward of discipleship is watching God actually mature us in our faith. Not an increase in head knowledge but a change of character that makes our wives, children and close peers notice something different about us. It is such a boon to our confidence to hear someone we respect tell us they have noticed a positive difference in our lives. Adventure and battle come as we explore scripture with another man and realize there are areas of our own life that are not yet yielded to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. As He reveals these deficiencies, He will supply the strength we need to do His will. The adventure is the process of growth; the battle is against our flesh and its desire to remain the same. CBMC seeks to lead men into a consistent life of obedience to Christ by helping them live lives of risk, reward, adventure and battle.
